EU charger rule a blow for Apple

Apple will likely be forced to change how at least some customers power up their iPhones after the European Parliament passed a rule mandating that electronic devices work with one kind of charger. If approved by the European Council, the rule will mean phones, cameras and tablets sold in Europe must use USB Type-C chargers by the end of 2024. Companies like Apple, which uses its own Lightning charger, would theoretically have to adapt any devices they want to sell in European Union countries. Apple has said the change would stifle innovation.
