Less is more for latest Apple update

Apple is using the annual unfurling of its iPhone software update to ponder whether you can make your smartphone more useful "without you having to use it so much.

The newly released iOS 16 tackles the solution via the humble home screen. Designers are increasing the number of widgets you can add to your locked home screen, and designing them in a way that will allow you to take in a quick update on, say, your step count for the day, the current temperature, upcoming meetings and your phone's battery status without opening your phone.

The new update will allow users to have one home screen for the work week and another for weekends that switches off email and Slack notifications.
